Another excellent article on an industry that most take for granted. With these restaurant closures go many job losses and some very sought after. You continue to put out content that is so well thought out and insightful. I have one child employed in this industry so have some appreciation. The full picture you have painted is frightening to those restaurant owners and their staff. Canada has a rich culinary heritage and independent firms work tirelessly to carve out their niche. The prospects of loosing those is heartbreaking. Thank you Professor for your excellent work on all things food. Some of the most expertise content anywhere!

Great sector overview of issues. FYI, I bought supper for myself and my son last Friday. It cost just under $35 at A&W for two Teenburgers and two onion rings including tax. Food quality was good. People will not be going out or purchasing on the go given the horrendous almost userous prices at restaurants everywhere in Canada. It also appeared to me that this restaurant was likely using government subsidized workers. So.... go broke will be served up by customer non-retension.
